      Barcham's Trees

In this guide we will answer the following questions:

      • How do our trees start?
      • How big are Barcham’s trees?
      • Where are Barcham trees grown?

      How do Barcham trees start?

We are known for our instant impact large trees but unlike virtually all other tree nurseries in the UK, we actually grow our trees from scratch! Most trees are imported into the UK, but we make a point of collecting seed from native veteran trees.

      How big are Barcham Trees?

At Barcham Trees, we specialise in producing “instant” impact trees that will make an immediate and lasting impact upon your planting scheme.
Generally, Barcham’s trees are available in 3 sizes, medium, large and instant. The sizes are as follows:

      Medium
      • Height: 3-4m
      • Container Size: 35L, 45L, 55L or 65

      Large
      • Height: 4-5m
      • Container Size: 65L/100L

      Instant
      • Height: 5m+
      • Container Size: 150L, 200L, 250L or 350L

Some trees are only available as a small specimen, these are smaller than 3m and the height and container size will be mentioned in the description. Where possible, we will list these as their height e.g. 1.5-2m although some may still appear as small. If you would like more details on anything listed as ‘small’ please contact us.

      Where are Barcham’s trees grown?

Most nurseries import trees to sell on straight away but here at Barcham we adopt a different approach!

Our field trees are all grown about 6 miles away from the main Barcham container unit and they are grown to combat the extremely windy and exposed conditions that the flat fen land throws at them. As we have grown them from scratch, we don’t have to suffer the problems of new pests and diseases associated with imported plants from Europe that is proving to be such a threat to our native trees in recent years.

Our field trees will finish their growing cycle by October and the Pines will be first to be lifted in late September. The deciduous trees will be lifted after leaf drop and when they are dormant in November.
