Product Details

Prunus Pandora is a wonderful cross of Prunus Yedoensis which produces a stunning, profusely flowering cherry tree.

The leaves of this delightful little tree are fairly small for a cherry, emerging after the tree is smothered in flowers that emerge as a tight pink bud, opening to shell pink flowers that gradually fade to white throughout March and early April. In the autumn time, this tree produces a glorious display of bronze-red foliage, which brings closure to the ornamental display offered throughout the year by this brilliant, yet not well known, flowering cherry tree.

Prunus Pandora is a small cherry tree at maturity, requiring very little maintenance to retain its tidy, broadly columnar shape. This small beauty won the Award of Merit in 1939 and the updated Award of Merit in 2002.

This little tree is quite versatile and can be planted in most soil conditions, like most cherries however it is best suited to being planted in free draining soil, as it does not like to get it’s ‘feet’ wet!

Prunus Pandora is a super selection of small cherry tree for avenue planting, with its regular, ascending shaped crown lending it perfectly to providing uniformity and its multiple ornamental qualities providing year round interest. This tree is not as well requested as the more well known cherries, but really is a delight which would make a stunning selection for a small garden.
