The Small-leaved Lime is a British native.
This large tree has a broadly oval crown, with small, heart shaped leaves, which are dark green on top and pale green beneath.
Its creamy white flowers are produced in July.
It is a slow grower, is good for avenues and parks, and bears air pollution very well.
Also a fine subject for pollarding.
This classic native tree is particularly suited for avenue planting where they are best spaced at ten metres apart.
For the more romantic of you, Tilia cordata is also a great host to Mistletoe!
