Thought to have been introduced in the very early 1800s, it is sometimes also classified under the varietal names ‘Moravica’ or ‘Dulcis’.

A vigorous and very hardy tree, which is of medium size and broadly oval at maturity.

It has larger leaves than the species – and large berries too. A good choice for gardens and urban areas, it thrives on most soils.
