Introduced from France in 1849 this tasty pear requires a pollinator and produces yellow / green rotund fruits that can be harvested from late September.

Not as well cultivated as Conference, it has more flavour but less storage longevity.

It won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002 and is worth planting alongside Pyrus communis Beech Hill which can act as the pollinator.

Like most fruit trees we recommend a metre radius mulch ring round each tree to promote fruit size and to avoid planting in soils with poor drainage.
