This Cherry requires virtually no pruning.

This Prunus avium cross originates back to 1923 and can grow more than 15 metres given suitable conditions.

Sometimes too vigorous for streets, it is better placed on green verges or gardens where it needs little or no maintenance.

It is most remarkable for its polished, red-brown bark that improves with every passing year.

Fairly quick growing, it’s stiffly ascending branches form a narrow but large conical crown even at maturity.

It shows fine autumn colours and thrives best on free draining soils.

Mature height: 15-20m
