Prunus Shirofugen Nursery

Species:Prunus Shirofugen
Genus:Prunus
Seasons of Interest:Spring Interest
Shape:Rounded
Mature Size:Small (under 10m)

Prunus Shirofugen as seen on the nursery at Barcham.

A late and long lasting flowerer introduced in the very early 1900s by Ernest Wilson that won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002.

Considered by many as the best flowering cherry on the market, it is hard to disagree with them.

A superb garden tree, it also thrives within an urban environment.

A rather spreading tree with a rounded crown, Shirofugen remains small.

Its large, double, white flowers finish pink, contrasting well with the young, copper coloured foliage.

Excellent for verges, parks and gardens it is a wonderful sight when in full flow.

It thrives best on free draining soils. Its floral display is incredibly long lasting.

Mature height: 5-10m
