Prunus padus Grandiflora is an alternative name for this Bird Cherry.

Sometimes referred to as Prunus padus Grandiflora, this clone of Bird Cherry was introduced slightly after ‘Albertii’ in the early 1900s.

It won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002 and is a popular choice for amenity planting.

Remarkable for its long white racemes – up to 20cm long – this cultivar is of medium height and with a rounded, rather spreading habit.

A good selection for parks and other open spaces but is too vigorous for streets.

Quick to grow in the first few years it tolerates most soils.
