The Bird Cherry, a native of Britain, is a relatively late flowerer.
The white flowers of the Bird Cherry are produced in May in hanging racemes.
The black fruits in late summer are edible, yet rather bitter.
This is a rounded tree of medium height, and is good in parks, gardens and woodlands.
