The Almond is one of the finest of spring flowering trees.
I was shown a lovely painting of Hampstead Garden Suburb depicting a Victorian tree-lined avenue of Almonds in full flower which prompted me to bring back this old favourite into our range.
However it is fraught with difficulty as they tend to attract every insect pest and fungal mildew under the sun so beware!!
Its pink, single and double flowers can reach up to 5cm across before the foliage emerges to create a lovely effect.
It is always best to plant on free draining soils where no other Prunus have been to try and avoid pest and disease build up.
