Persian Ironwood is usually grown as a large shrub, and was formerly classified as a species of Hamamelis.

It takes its name from the well known German horticulturalist, FW Parrot and is a native of Iran.
There are some particularly nice specimens at the Westonbirt Arboretum near Stroud.
A beautiful, small, rounded tree with grey-brown bark which becomes attractively mottled with yellow.
This really is one of the finest small trees for autumn colour, giving a display of crimson, purple, red and gold.
A splendid choice for gardens and parks, it does well on most soils, including chalk.
