The Hop Hornbeam is so-called because it looks like a Hornbeam and its creamy white flowers resemble hops.

Introduced in 1724 from Southern Europe and Western Asia it won the Award of Merit in the hot summer of 1976.
This medium to large tree is good for parkland settings, verges and many urban locations.
It looks particularly good in spring with its display of yellow-green catkins.
A really tough tree, which will tolerate most conditions.
