This crab apple tree received an Award of Garden Merit from the RHS in 2002.
We recommend three crab apples in particular, one white, one red and one upright and this is one of them!
A winner of the Award of Garden Merit in 2002, it was introduced in the early 1980s.
This rounded tree of medium height has flowers that are red in bud before turning white – and the blossom is borne in profusion.
The small fruits of the Malus Evereste look like miniature ‘Gala’ and are held onto until they are taken off by birds after Christmas.
On the continent they are used in displays as the little fruits hold their form so well.
The orange-yellow autumn foliage also holds well.
Good for gardens, parks and verges.
