Magnolia Kobus

Species:Magnolia Kobus
Common Name(s):Magnolia
Tree Features:White Flower
Genus:Magnolia
Seasons of Interest:Spring Interest
Shape:Oval
Mature Size:Medium (10-15m)
Soil Type:Alkaline Soil
Tree Type:Deciduous Broad Leaf
Tree uses:Sheltered Sites,Garden,Parkland Trees

From Japan, this Magnolia is very hardy and is very versatile.

Introduced in 1865 from Japan, this sturdy Magnolia is both very hardy and versatile.

Unlike the other magnolias we supply, this only flowers at its full potential after about 15 years but as we supply them well over five years old it isn’t too long to wait!

In between time you will have a decent display rather than a sensational one.

We grow this medium size, round headed tree as a full standard, and recommend it for planting on verges and in parkland.

It does well in most soils, including chalky ones.

The very large, white flowers are produced as early as March and can reach up to 10cm across.

This is definitely the best choice for neutral to high ph soils.

Mature height: 10-15m
