Fragrant pure white flowers emerge cup shaped in spring, opening with heavy duty petals.
Fruits, seldom produced away from its native land, can be 10cm in length and turn rose red when ripe.
This is a beautiful tree in flower, when the weather permits, but is rarely seen in the UK.
