A Lovely deciduous conifer and underused in amenity plantings.

Being coniferous it has very good apical dominance, so retaining a lovely pyramidal habit through to maturity.
Not a native tree but introduced into the UK in the early 1600s.
It won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002.
Ideal for verges, as a specimen tree for parkland, or for woodlands, its crown is slender and conical when young.
At maturity the older branches droop.
Glorious green foliage heralds the spring and the autumn colour of yellow-orange provide good contrast.
It thrives on most soils.
We supplied some for the A47 coming into Leicester in 2001 and they are romping away!
