The Manna Ash or Flowering Ash has been grown in Britain since before 1700. A sweet sap, known as manna, is extracted from the stems to make a laxative!
Rather slow growing for an Ash, this eventually makes a rounded tree of medium height, producing plenty of creamy white, fragrant blossom in late spring. It also provides good autumn colour.
This ash does best on drier, calcareous and sandy, loamy soils.
Mature height: 10-15m
