This small tree is native to Brazil and Uruguay.
This small tree is native of Brazil and Uruguay and was discovered by Friedrich Sellow in 1819.
Just to confuse everyone its name has recently been changed to Acca sellowiana but we are still classifying as we always have done just to be rebellious!
Evergreen grey-green leaves, white felted beneath, do best in a warm sheltered position and large pods are sometimes produced in hot summers from flowers that have crimson and white petals.
Only for south facing, hot and sheltered sites.
It is lovely for both being evergreen and producing such highly prized ornamental flowers.
It thrives on most soils.
