This medium to large tree has a majestic crown with large, pendulous branches which can cascade to ground level.

Beech thrives just about anywhere other than exposed coastal locations. As it is shallow rooted, under planting is not recommended.

It does well in most reasonably fertile, well drained soils, except heavy clay or light sand.
