Introduced from China in 1796, this small tree has been grown in the Far East for hundreds of years for its edible egg shaped yellow orange fruits.

Introduced from China in 1796, this small tree has been grown in the Far East for hundreds of years for its edible egg shaped yellow orange fruits.

In the UK it is grown more for its superb autumn colour display of its large vibrant leaves which turn orange, yellow, red and purple before they fall.

Fruits are set from new season’s growth but only achieve full potential in the UK in hot long summers.

Flowers appear in May/June.

Mature height: 5-7 metres
