The Wedding Cake Tree originates in Japan and Korea, and is particularly ornamental as a specimen tree.
A small to medium tree with a conical habit, its common name relates to the layered effect of its habit. Broad clusters of creamy flowers cover the branches in May. Small, black fruits develop in autumn as the foliage turns to a rich purple-red. Excellent for parks.
It thrives on most soils.
