Introduced in the 1890s this variegated version of the Wedding Cake Tree is a sight to behold when seen at its full potential.

It is far from easy, hence the fact you hardly ever see one, but planted in a sheltered spot with plenty of care and time it is uniquely beautiful.

Layered branches take shape from an early age but are characterised by the striking white to yellow margin of the otherwise green leaves.

A winner of the Award of Garden Merit in 2002, it is far more sedate than its parent, but well worth the wait.
