Single or multi-stemmed trunk, with stiff ascending sword like leaves.
Introduced from New Zealand in 1823, this sun lover won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002 and 1953.
Best planted in Southern England, it produces small, creamy white, flowers in early summer when mature.
A very architectural tree, it grows as either as a single trunk specimen or a multi trunk plant.
Large and ascending green sword like leaves give it a Yucca like appearance.
It develops into a small evergreen tree and is tolerant of most well drained soils.
