Gleaming white and peeling, it is accentuated by dark lenticels lines. A native of the western Himalayas, it makes a large tree with ascending branches, and is very good for growing as a multi-stem. Its oval, dark green leaves turn golden yellow in autumn.

Excellent for urban plantings.

It grows well on most soils.

Ultimately a hugely popular tree of outstanding merit.
