Amelanchier Lamarckii (Juneberry)

Naturalised over much of Western Europe, it is a simply stunning sight when in full bloom with its white flowers produced in plentiful racemes.

It is a small, shrubby tree with emerging copper coloured leaves turning green by late spring before they mature to a rich red as autumn progresses. The rounded fruits, red in summer before turning black in autumn, are edible.

Although we grow this both as a multi stem and single stemmed tree please be aware that if you buy the latter form it is prone to sucker and broaden with age so requiring far more maintenance than Robin Hill if planted as a street tree.

In our opinion it makes a far better subject if planted as a coppiced multi stem tree for verge or garden plantings as you maximise its flowering potential and are going with its natural habit.

It does best in moist, well drained, lime free soils.

Fine near buildings, I have one growing happily two metres from my front door!
