This beautiful horse chestnut received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 2002.
This medium to large tree is wonderful in parks and planted in avenues. Of rounded habit, it produces dark pink, almost red, flowers in May and dates back to the late 1850s. The fruits are smaller and less spiny, if at all, than those of the Horse Chestnut.
It thrives in all soils and tolerates air pollution.
Mature height: 15-20m
