A really eye-catching cultivar first grown in the 1860s, it is a medium tree with a rounded habit.
The leaves begin yellowish pink turning green later and splashed with yellow and pink.
Particularly attractive from leaf emergence in the spring to early summer.
It tolerates air pollution and thrives in most soils, and is particularly useful for coastal sites where it can make an effective defence against strong winds and salt-laden air.
Introduced around 1864, it is not prone to the problem of reverting back to green like Acer platanoides Drummondii.
