It is a native of Southern Italy and was introduced into the UK in 1683.
It is one of the few maples to be naturally fastigiate and is as such great for restricted spaces.
This vigorous narrow growing maple tolerates most soils and turns a glorious yellow in the autumn.
Dark green leaves in summer gives the tree a very neat and tidy appearance and its juvenile smooth grey bark graduates to a browner and shallowly furrowed trunk at maturity.
Mature Height: 10-15m
