This tree prefers sheltered conditions and is not tolerant to urban pollution.
It is particularly effective when planted against an evergreen backdrop as the foliage provides a vivid contrast. Best planted on sites offering good light levels, but not inareas with reflected light bouncing off hard surfaces.
This tree is difficult to grow and establish but the rewards are great if you suceed. It is rarely seen at maturity in the UK. If you are in doubt about its' suitability to your planting scheme but still want a yellow foliaged maple, consider using Acer platanoides Princeton Gold, or Acer pseudoplatanus Worleii and Corstorphinense as toughter, but just as pretty, alternatives.
Mature Height: 10-15m
