In cultivation since the late 1830s, this maple is also known as Acer campestre 'Compactum'
A top worked variety with a very dwarfing, rounded habit.
Its leaves are smaller than those of the species and they form a very dense crown.
It does best in rich, well drained soils, but does well in virtually any soil type, and will readily tolerate drought, soil compaction and air pollution.
Very good for streets and residential plantings and any site where space is at a premium.
Mature height: 10m
