Wet/Dry Soils
The extremes in weather conditions that the UK seems to be experiencing at present and over the past few years will no doubt have implications upon species selection in the future.Sites are likely to experience more frequent and prolonged extremes in weather conditions, the result of which may be failure in some species to survive in areas that they would usually thrive.
There are species that can tolerate being planted in dry or wet conditions, although few will tolerate both. Barcham recommend the following species for planting in dry soils:
• Gleditsia triacanthos Sunburst
For further species suitable for dry soils, please see the extended list on the right hand side.
