Choosing the perfect tree for a site exhibiting extreme pH can be tricky; let us help you make the right choices.
Extreme pH
It is important to select the correct species when the destination soil exhibits extreme pH, either high alkalinity or acidity.
There are a number of species that are extremely tough growers and as such are able to tolerate extremes in pH. Extreme pH affects a trees ability to absorb nutrients and can cause stress, predispose the tree to disease and ultimately lead to failure.
Barcham recommend the following trees to tolerate soil extreme pH:
• Sorbus thuingiaca Fastigiata
For further species that are tolerant of Acidic and Alkaline conditions, please see the full list of Related Trees.
