- Corylus avellana - The Common Hazel is native to Europe and is great for gardens, producing a crop of round nuts which can be eaten raw, roasted or ground into a paste. Barcham produce Corylus avellana as a multistem which can be routinely coppiced to maintain the size in smaller gardens where space is limited.
- Juglans nigra - The Black Walnut produces nuts that are richer in taste than the Common English Walnut. In America they are shelled commercially with resulting nut meat being used in sweet foods such as icecream, cakes, coookies and fudge and in savouries such as Salads, Pasta and meat dishes.
- Juglans regia - The Common or English Walnut produces nuts that can be harvested and used for dishes in much the same way as the Balck Walnut, although it has a slightly less pungent taste. Both the Common and Black Walnut can also be tapped in the Spring time to produce sugar.
- Prunus dulcis - This small flowering tree produces the widely cultivated Almond nut, which has many uses in cooking and baking. The oil from the Almond is widley used by massage therapists as an emollient for the skin and is also suitable as a substitute for Olive Oil in cooking.
