Barcham supplies trees to Peter Beales Roses for Chelsea
Instant impact trees to be used as integral part of Peter Beales Roses' exhibit at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010.

Barcham Trees of Ely, Cambridgeshire, Europe’s largest container tree nursery, is providing instant-impact trees as an integral part of Peter Beales Roses’ exhibit at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show 2010.
Peter Beales Roses are the World Leaders in Classic Roses. Established in 1972, Peter Beales Roses has been hybridising Classic Roses for over 30 years and in this time have won 17 RHS Chelsea Flower Show gold medals and over one hundred gold medals at other shows RHS flower shows.
Peter Beales Roses Ltd despatch bare root roses throughout the winter from November to March and sell container roses - many in glorious full flower - throughout the summer months. At their rose gardens in the thriving market town of Attleborough Peter Beales display hundreds of varieties of Classic Roses all in a garden setting, from small bushes and larger shrubs under planted with iris', hollyhocks, spring bulbs and the best companion plants available through to 40ft 20 year old ramblers scaling up into the tallest trees. They also have the Sweet Briar Garden Centre and Bistro on site, who sell all the gardening essentials and a variety of generous seasonal dishes all served in an idyllic setting.
For this years 2010 RHS Chelsea Flower Show display Peter Beales have a totally new concept for the display of their roses. Rather than large buildings or ironwork structures the main non-rose features will be semi-mature trees adorned with climbing and rambling roses; sponsored by Barcham Trees of Ely, Cambridgeshire. Richard Beales, designer of many gold award winning displays for Peter Beales Roses says "Growing roses amongst the branches of trees is a concept that is often overlooked by gardeners but it is one of the most natural ways of growing this type of rose. Something we believe has not been previously portrayed at Chelsea". Peter Beales Roses are thrilled to have been able to work with local tree experts Barcham Trees who run a 300 acre site in Cambridgeshire and also publish the magnificent and definitive guide to trees and their selection for UK planting titled 'It's time for trees'
There will of course still be ample shrub and bush roses filling the spaces beneath the trees. Many of the roses will be of historical interest and we hope to colour co-ordinate our stand this year.

BEATRIX POTTER (TM)

Peter Beales Roses are thrilled to be naming this rose for The Beatrix Potter Society's 30th anniversary. It will be introduced to the world for the first time by famous actress PATRICIA ROUTLEDGE. "This highly perfumed rose is a truly beautiful tribute for such a merit worthy name" says the breeder, Amanda Beales. The flowers are of the softest pink shade, shapely, with many petals. The rose continues to flower well into the autumn. Growth is upright and tidy to approximately 1.2m and the shrub is well endowed with dark glossy foliage.
JOHN INNES

This rose is named to celebrate the centenary of the John Innes Research Centre, local to us in Norwich. It was made available to associates and staff of the centre last year (the year of the official anniversary) and is now being launched for the first time to the general public. The rose blooms are stunning, good sized, semi-double and are borne in large clusters on a tall, arching shrub of about 1.5m that could double as a small climber. The flowers are bright cherry red around the outer edges of the petals paling to cream at the centre. These are delightfully set off by a large coronet of stamens.
NOTRE DAME DE CALAIS
A versatile and rudely healthy small climbing or scrambling rose 'Notre Dame de Calais' is capable of producing a great abundance of flowers each year. Individually, the blooms are cream with a hint of lemon, semi-double and are scented. Bred from the well known variety "Maigold" it shares its parents thorny disposition and makes it a credible subject for burglar/vandal proof barriers.
