Similar in most respects to the species, but with yellow edged leaves. Its distinctive foliage makes it very good as a specimen tree. Sweet chestnuts can be very long lived and are drought resistant, so are a good choice for light soils.

It does best on reasonably dry, light soils, and is moderately lime tolerant.
