How much should trees be watered post-planting?
Watering is an imperative factor of any maintenance programme and should be considered to be included for two seasons post-planting and should commence immediately following planting if the trees are in leaf.
The amount and frequency of watering is difficult to advise, as this can very much depend upon the site, the trees planted and the weather conditions throughout the Spring and Summer period.
The Spring and Summer are the most important periods for watering, as it is during this time that rainfall is low and temperatures and transpiration rates high.
If the trees are planted during the winter, watering should commence as soon as the trees begin to flush in the Spring.
