Schools Gardening Club plant Barcham trees
Children in the Gardening Club "Grounds Force" at the Ormiston Victory AcademyChildren in the gardening club "Grounds Force" celebrated the launch day of the Ormiston Victory Academy in Norfolk on 21st October 2010 by planting Oak trees.
Six local dignatories worked with the "Grounds Force" members to plant a grove of six Oaks to celebrate not only the launch of the new academy, but also to demonstrate their commitment to care for the environment. The dignatories that teamed up with the students included Mr Murray (Chairman of the Ormiston Trust), Mr Prior (Chairman of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and one of the Academy's principal sponsors), Mr Tomkinson (Chairman of South Norfolk District Council) Jeremy Savage and Richard Bacon (MP for South Norfolk).
Ormiston Victory Academy has a keen commitment to environmental issues with the introduction of a major programme of environmental initiatives that are designed to make the Academy a world class "Green School".
The gardening club, Grounds Force, have recently proudly planted a number of trees from Barcham and are currently working on a Sensory Garden which will include features that stimulate sight, smell, touch, taste and sound.

It is delightful to hear reports of youngsters embracing their environmental responsibility and encouraging that schools are so actively including consideration of the environment into their students day to day studies and extra curricular activities.
Please visit the Ormiston Victory Academy website for further information regarding their Sensory Garden.
