This American Clone is actually thought to be a hybrid of Acer saccharum and Acer nigrum.
Introduced into our range in 2010, this American Clone is actually thought to be a hybrid of Acer saccharum and Acer nigrum. Once established, it responds well to arid and restricted planting sites as well as also coping well with reflected heat and light.
Autumn colour can be quite dramatic with the dark green summer foliage turning to yellow / orange and sometimes red / scarlet. It forms a broadly oval crown at maturity.
Although widely planted in the USA, Sugar Maple rarely makes an appearance in the UK so this introduction will be of interest to the tree enthusiast.
Mature height: 20m+
